For A Day Foundation- CHOC

Today's post is a very meaningful one to us. As most of you know Buylove, our tote bag company (see here), is partnered up with a non-profit organization for each of our 4 lines. With each line, we chose a non-profit we feel best represents that line and is geared towards women. Our motto "Buy love give love" has multiple meanings: with each bag you purchase you are also giving one to you friend and as an added bonus, a non-profit organization!

Our Buywishes line donates towards For a Day Foundation.

This morning we had the pleasure of volunteering with the non-profit organization FOR A DAY FOUNDATION's LA Chapter by visiting CHOC hospital. We were able to play make believe and dress up with pediatric cancer patients at CHOC, giving them a pick-me-up during their treatments. We met a couple children and our favorite moments? The large smile that Brian (aka SUPER BRIAN) gave us when we put on his mask and the time we spent with Ariana who sat patiently as we painted her nails making her a hero/queen for the day.

It is in these moments that truly reminded Jamie and I of how blessed we were to meet these wonderful kids. We hope we made a difference in their day as they did in ours and we can't wait to get more involved with this organization.

DIY FRIDAY: Colored Hair Dye!

Today's DIY Friday is one of my personal favorites and with summer coming up, I really think it will be fun for you all to experiment with it at home too! For those of you who have been following us on instagram (@buylovegivelove) you know that Jamie dyed the tips of her pink for Coachella weekend. After a week though, the pink slowly faded- tip: color hair dye fades VERY VERY QUICKLY, the more you dye it though, the longer the color will stay. Since Jamie didn't want to spend more money at the salon coloring her tips pink again (esp since it's fades so quicky), after much going back and forth, we decided to try it on her hair ourselves and it turned out great!

Jamie purchased the pink hair dye herself at a local Sally's Beauty Supplies.

DIY INSTRUCTIONS:

1. you must use color on already blonde or pre-bleached hair

2. use a sandwich bag or plastic wrap to dip hand into the dye

3. put the color on the blonde or pre-bleached streaks you want colored

4. leave the color in for about 30 minutes

5. wash out the color with cold water

And the that's all! :)

It's always a little scary dealing with color on hair, but after trying it once, it definitely was a lot easier than we thought! The best thing about this is you can save so much money by doing this at home. You can always ask a friend to help you too so you can have an extra set of hands and make it a sleepover night! Hope this helps and good luck!

Mixing & Matching Patterns

When we were younger the rule was to NEVER mix patterns- now that were older and the times have changed, mixing and matching patterns has turned into a surprisingly eye catching and FUN way to play with your wardrobe. Celia had a harder time finding items to mix her outfit with (the idea of mixing patterns is still new to us too) but I think her outfit turned out super cute!

Celia's Outfit: Jacket- Urban Outfitters (bought a while ago), Dress- Forever 21, Shoes- Vince Camuto
Jamie's Outfit: Top- Urban Outfitters (bought a while ago), Skirt- Zara, Shoes- Delicious

You may feel like it's hard to find the right patterns to put together but try to follow these simple rules: after experimenting with it, we think it's easier to mix and match patterns that aren't #1: the exact same and #2: don't wear two types of patterns that fight one another, choose either your top or bottom print to be bolder than the other.

Either way, have fun with it and be adventurous- go mix and match your patterns, you can do it! ;)

The Shack

As most of you know, Jamie & I have been working at a restaurant part-time for some time now (hey, who doesn't love some extra cash?) ;) We've been working at THE SHACK for a year now and have decided that it is time for us to move on. Yes, sometimes it sucked working on weekends and dealing with rude customers but overall, working at The Shack was a great experience!  We became super close to the staff, our regular (great tipping!) customers, and of course, fell in love with the food :) I am a firm believer that "everything happens for a reason," and I truly believe that The Shack came into our lives when we really needed it and although our time there is coming to an end, it is definitely something great to look back on.

Last Sunday was our last day and we actually got to end our time at The Shack working together!

our last meal as servers together.

(pictured: onion rings, seasoned fries, lemon pepper wings, and sweet potato fries!)

For those of you reading this who live around or ever visit the Rowland Heights area, GO EAT AT THE SHACK! We aren't just saying this because we used to work there.. if you are craving some delicious, fresh seafood.. this is the place to go:

THE SHACK: 18937 Colima Rd. Rowland Heights, CA 91748

We are excited to finally eat at The Shack as customers and not just employees, can't wait!!

Celia's Shack Favorites: Seasoned fries, wings (lemon pepper/ tangy), clams, and ridgeback shrimp! (medium spicy)

Spring into Summer!

Jamie's lipstick (left): MAC, Hello Kitty Collection // Celia's lipstick (right): Estee Lauder, Passion Fruit (354)

With the weather getting warmer each day, Jamie and I have had the urge to wear more color since it's almost SUMMERTIME! We don't wear colored lipstick as much as we'd like but both feel like colored lipstick is a fun and easy way to add a pop of color to ANY outfit.

Now.. take out those lipsticks, pucker up, and let's celebrate summer with some color!!

Coachella, we miss you! (Instagram + more..)

It's been a couple days since Coachella and we are finally ready to recap our weekend! For those of you who follow us on Instagram (@buylovegivelove), some of these photos will be a repeat but I've also included a couple photos that I found on my phone. None of the photos are enough to show you how much fun it was (esp being our FIRST coachella, EVER!), but hopefully you'll be able to take a look at some of our outfits and some other fun (cool) ones other people were wearing- I especially love the turquoise furry blanket one girl used for dayONE (since it was very windy/cold!). Here goes...

Beautiful isn't it? ;) Don't forget to follow us on Instagram for instant updates from us! (@buylovegivelove)

Music Festival Season!

With Coachella coming up this weekend, we thought it would be fun to do a post about music festival outfits! Main things we thought about while packing: the outfit must be comfortable (most festivals are all day long), colorful (to put yourself in the mood for a good time), and FUN (use this time to do something different). Look below to see how Jamie and I styled the items above! FYI-- while doing this post, we realized all the items were purchased from Forever21, showing that you DON'T need to break the bank to look cute.

Jamie's Outfit Choices:

For those of you going to Coachella Weekend 1, we're hearing that the weather is not looking to good right now so don't forget to pack some light jackets, cardigans, and blankets. Rain or shine, we'll have fun!!! :)

DIY FRIDAY: Flower Crowns!

We can't believe it's COACHELLA next week (already?! and yes, we are both going!). We thought it would be fun to surprise some of our close girlfriends who are going with us with flower crowns so we can match and feel young again next weekend :) In preparation for the much anticipated coachella, we decided to do a DIY this friday for flower crowns.

Our inspiration for this is from The Beauty Department- they have so many cute ideas on this site that you can easily make in the comfort of your own home. As you can see however, we tweaked the idea around a little for it to work for us. For our DIY all you need is some yarn, fake flowers (roses, daisies, be etc!), thread/needle or hot glue gun. Use the braided yarn as a foundation to stick each flower stem through and all you have to do is hot glue or sew the stems down on the other side. Follow each step of the photos above and you can easily create the perfect, ever-lasting flower crown.

We are excited for next weekend, maybe we will see some of you there!

DIY FRIDAY: Team GALE Shirts!

Being huge fan of the Hunger Games series, Jamie & I were super excited to watch the movie. To celebrate the release of the movie, our DIY friday is “Team Gale” Shirts. When Jamie read the books first, she immediately told me that she preferred one guy over the other (but didn’t tell me who so it wouldn’t ruin the books for me). I guess great minds think alike because after I finished the series too, we both agreed that although a lot of people were TEAM PEETA, we were definitely TEAM GALE!!!

Our Team Gale shirts were very easy to make. We just took old t-shirts and cut out letters with felt. We added the arrow/heart for a special touch and done! Sadly, we both didn’t like the movie very much (books were sooo much better!), but at least we have these shirts to represent our beloved, Gale. haha
